This is a MkIII Snider Cavalry carbine, it is not a cut down cadet carbine. It has been tested recently with 577 ammo, and it is fully functional with very smooth mechanics. Rifling is strong and the bore is bright, with minimal corrosion. The sight has a newly made leather cover that fits perfectly, but this rifle also comes with an older cover that is more worn out and probably the original cover. There is a thin crack in the stock, but this does not affect functioning. Matching numbers on the breech block and sight. Some of the metal has been scrubbed by a previous owner to remove surface rust. DC (Dominion of Canada) stamp on the stock indicates Canadian military service.
