Gewer 1888/05 Ottoman Empire Used 8mm Mauser

Howdy Townpost. I've got a neat German rifle with lots of history and cool features. It's a Gew. 88/05 which means it has a Mauser type set of stripper clip guides added, feed lips inside of the rifle as opposed to the older Mannlicher type feed system that used en-bloc clips. The side of the receiver has a scallop cut to make it easier to load stripper clips and the front of the receiver has a cutout so that the longer spitzer bullets will clear the receiver and enter the magazine. It has an S marked receiver but I am unsure of the bore diameter. I suspect it's 0.319 not 0.324 as most 1888/05 I've run across are like that. I recommend slugging the bore and chamber throat if you want to shoot this rifle so you can use the appropriate sized bullets. It has a twice re-marked rear sight. So it went from Western Arabic numerals (1234567890), ground and re-marked to Eastern Arabic numerals (٠١٢٣٤٥٦٧٨٩) and then back to Western Arabic numerals again. It has Arabic markings and Islamic crescent moons on the bolt and receiver parts. It has Turkish Mauser type barrel bands on it. It's Loewe 1891 made rifle.

Overall it's in pretty good shape. The metal has some light wear fair to good overall. The bore is in excellent shape with shiny and sharp rifling (there's some dirt in the barrel in the pic which I have since cleaned). The action is smooth like most Schlegelmilch type rifles. There is a small superficial dent in the barrel jacket (pictured) and a round dent in the stock. There was a crack in the stock at the butt end of the gun that was repaired with a high strength polyurethane based glue.
