This is an Antique French Service revolver made in 1878 by MAS (Manufacture d'Armes St. Etienne). These were chambered for single and double action firing of the 11 mm French ordnance round which is an impressive caliber. They can be rechambered to shoot both both .45 ACP and .455 Webley antique loads making ammo much more accessible in Canada (I can have this done for $350 if you like). As a pre-1898 Antique, this can be bought and sold by anyone over the age of 18 in Canada with no PAL or registration necessary, and generally used wherever a nonrestricted is acceptable. These revolvers saw battle in all sorts of conflicts up into WW1, and are a staple of any antique collection. This will still make a reliable shooter for the back country.

This gun is in amazing condition mechanically, with a pristine factory finish still shining on the internals. The action functions as intended in single and double action, with reliable indexing and firing. The ejector, cylinder pin, and all related mechanisms are completely operational. The grips are nice and solid, though the left one has a bit of wiggle to it.
The surface has a definite patina from wear and weathering over nearly 150 years on this planet, but there are no major dents, scratches, or active oxidation. The rifling down the 5" barrel is strong and with moderate pitting. The serials all match and all writing is clearly marked, including "MANUFACTURE D'ARMES ST. ETIENNE", model "Mle 1873" and the manufacture year 1878, and various proof and inspection marks.
For $350 extra I can have this milled out from 11mm French to shoot both .455 Webley and .45 ACP, which are very accessible to reload for antiques.
