1872 Snider Artillery Carbine

Here is a Snider Artillery Carbine made by the Birmingham Small Arms Company in 1872. It was made from scratch and is not a converted long arm so has a steel, not iron, barrel. It has the improved Mk.III action with the positive locking breech. The cleaning/clearing rod is original.

The stampings/markings indicate that it was used by the Volunteer Durham Artillery 2nd Corps, rack number 309 ( 2nd (Seaham) Durham Artillery Volunteer Corps, rack 309).
Overall it is in good to very good condition, with the usual dings and whatnot in the woodwork that will accumulate over 152 years. The rifling is crisp and the bore shows mimimal pitting. The bluing to the top of the barrel is mottled.

I have fired a few rounds through it. Thank you for your interest.
