Winchester Model 1873, 44-40 Saddle Ring Carbine

Winchester Model 1873 in 44-40 or 44 W.C.F. with full length magazine, and 20" round barrel, saddle ring, lever action dated 1887.
Factory wood is good on forend with a few minor chips/marks and the butt stock is fair with two tang cracks and one recoil plate crack, all look repaired. Both the forend and butt stock have been drilled for sling swivels. All wood has been period lacquered. Butt plate is in good shape and the butt plate trap operates. Nothing is inside. Screws are all present and in very good shape but show use. Metal overall in good shape with a few marks and showing petina. The barrel still shows laquer. The magazine, shown in photos, was drilled for a sling swivel at one time. Bluing is less than 10% or almost all gone throughout. Lever lock works, top gate works. Bore shows some corrosion from use with black powder, it appears to have been polished and rifling is all there but light. Muzzle and crown are good with minor marks. Original sites are intact, however elevator on rear site is missing. Winchester letter provided with this firearm.
I have no snap caps for this caliber. Gate on magazine solid, loading ramp works as it should, ejector is solid with good spring, half cock safety solid and strong hammer spring. There is nothing here to make me concerned. I grade this firearm as 'Fair'.
