Kitchen Supervisor

Salary: $22.39 to $29.40 /hour

Barrhead and District Social Housing Association provides safe, affordable, quality housing for the well-being and independence of residents and tenants.

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Kitchen Supervisor.

The typical schedule is Monday - Thursday, 10 hour days. Mondays and Thursdays are office/administrative days for this position and hours on these days are flexible to ensure supervision of the kitchen during all shifts. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are days that this position cooks and prepares meals for the day and would work 6:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.

Responsibilities:
•Responsible for the day to day operations of food services
•Ensure that all kitchen staff complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Code, the Public Health Act, and the Supportive Living Accommodation Licensing Act
•Menu Planning
•Inventory ordering and control
•Supervision and training of kitchen staff
•Oversees kitchen food supplies and kitchen cleaning supplies
•Adheres to health and safety standards and conducts weekly health and safety meetings within department
•Maintains professionalism in contact with staff, residents, families, visitors, community resources
•Handles written documentation: incident reports, chronological recording, etc.
•Assures that all storerooms, freezers, and walk-in coolers are maintained in a clean and organized manner

Qualifications:
•Three - five years' supervisory and cooking related experience preferably in a lodge setting
•One – two years’ experience ordering all groceries, ingredients and materials needed to ensure smooth operations and delivery of meals
•Food Safe Level 1 & 2 certification and Standard First Aid and CPR is an asset
•Knowledge of standards and regulations that govern the handling, delivery, storage and preparation of food
•Strong leadership qualities, including managing performance of team and building and maintaining trust with staff, residents/tenants and external business contacts
•Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide and an ability to apply it to menu planning for seniors
•Understanding and ability to use the computer for orders, menus, recipes, etc.
•Ability to organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines and function well under pressure
•Professional, enthusiastic attitude, team player
•Genuine interest and commitment to work with seniors in a compassionate, dignified and respectful manner
